UPDATED – BD”E Shmuel Pinchas Fishman – 23, found deceased in a burning car in Borough Park

The borough park community was shocked to wake up to the horrible news, a Bochur was discovered dead in a burning car.

Police told News 12 when they arrived at the scene of a burning car on the sidewalk at the intersection of 39th Street and 12th Avenue, which has been closed off as police investigate, they found a man sitting in the driver’s seat.

Firefighters worked to get to the victim, but he was unresponsive and already dead by the time they got there.

No one else was in the car at the time of the fire. Tragically, the Bochur was pronounced dead on the scene. Misaskim is on the scene ensuring he receives proper kavod hames.

Police are canvassing the area for surveillance footage of what may have cause the flames.

There is no word yet on what caused the flames but police, firefighters and the medical examiner are working to find out how, what and why.

Friends say ‘Shmili’ was a very happy Bochur who was very popular and had a lot going for him.

It is likely he may have fallen asleep while smoking in the car.

At the levaya which had a few hundred attendees, it was mentioned that Shmili did a massive amount of Chessed. He raised 34K to help a couple make a chasuna, he used to volunteer for and provide meals for sick people in hospitals and would do anything for anyone – Yehi Zichro Baruch.
