Dow tanks 700 points on tariff fears


The stock market on Monday touched an intraday low, with the Dow sinking over 700 points amid escalating U.S.-China trade aggressions that have roiled investors on Wall street. Most recently, the Dow DJIA, -2.44%was off 641 points, or 2.5%, at 25,293, with the blue-chip index shedding as many as 719.86 points at its intrasession nadir and dragging the benchmark further below its closely watched 200-day moving average. The S&P 500 index SPX, -2.42% meanwhile, declined 2.4% at 2,811, threatening to skid below a psychological round-number level at 2,800, while the Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, -3.22% shed 3.2% at 7,660.
