HATE: Chassid Punched in Williamsburg, Gov. Cuomo weighs in

A Chassidishe man wearing a shtreimel and all, was assaulted shabbos by a group of men yelling racial slurs in Williamsburg, cops said Sunday.

The 42-year-old man told police he was walking in Williamsburg on Broadway near Lynch Street on Saturday at about 1:15 p.m. when one of the men punched him in the face and made “derogatory racial remark.”

One of the men in the group said “You **** Jew” as they ran away.

The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.

NY Governor Cuomo released a statement saying:

“I am appalled and disgusted by the apparent attack on a Jewish man in religious attire in Williamsburg. I have directed the New York State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to assist NYPD in the investigation. We have zero tolerance for such abhorrent acts of anti-Semitism.”
