High Holidays: Members of New Jersey’s Jewish community meet with NJ State Police

Last week, Colonel Patrick Callahan met with Rabbi Abe Friedman, Rabbi Yosef Carlebach, and other prominent members of New Jersey’s Jewish community to discuss security concerns ahead of the Jewish High Holidays.

Understanding that synagogues will experience an increase in attendance over the next several weeks, the Colonel reaffirmed our commitment to protecting houses of worship as well as continuing to build on our strong relationships with the Jewish community.

The Colonel has encouraged troopers and law enforcement agencies statewide to routinely visit synagogues not just during the High Holidays, but in the weeks, months and years to come, so that local officers will be familiar faces in the community.

Additionally, the New Jersey State Police Office of Target Hardening will be conducting increased security operations during the High Holidays, both in uniform and out of uniform.

We would like to remind everyone to always be vigilant and report all suspicious activity. If you see something, say something. Report all suspicious activity to 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ.

  1. Hopefully they will cover Lakewood. It’s obvious that our local police can’t protect us even from known threats hence the weekly break-ins every Saturday morning between 3am-4am.
