IF I WIN…Cory Booker goes to war with the NRA

As reported on GreaterLakewood, Cory Booker, has been taken on gun violence ever since he became a Newark Mayor. As mayor, he ran a gun buyback program and in 2016 he participated in a filibuster in 2016 to force the Senate Republican majority to allow votes to expand background checks and prevent individuals on the terrorist watch list from buying guns. The bills were unsuccessful.

In an opinion piece in a New Hampshire paper, Booker wrote:

“Beginning on Day One of my presidency, I’ll take action to close dangerous loopholes in gun sales, crack down on unscrupulous dealers and gun manufacturers, and invest in communities impacted by gun violence. And I am immediately calling on the Internal Revenue Service to investigate the NRA’s tax status to determine whether the self-dealing and other activities recently reported in the press should lead to revocation of its tax-exempt status,” he wrote.

Calling guns a “public health crisis,” Booker promised to spend tax dollars on “researching gun violence.”
