544 bridges across New Jersey are are classified as structurally deficient and in immediate need of repair, according to a report by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association.
New Jersey has 6,746 bridges – meaning about 8% of them are in need of repair. The survey says that about 40 of these bridges are on interstate highways and see 100,000 drivers every day.
In 2014 more than 2,400 bridges in New Jersey were deemed “structurally deficient.”
