At their public hearing last night, Lakewood Township’s Planning Board approved some major applications.
1) Yeshiva Toras Menachem (1990 Swarthmore Ave) received approval to build a 2 story, 30,623 sqft extension to their school building, including a new inground pool. They signed a lease with the Lakewood Industrial Commission on a 2.5 acre lot located in the Airport Hazardous Zone (no building permitted) for $25,000 annually, to construct a parking lot and a play yard. With this additional lot for parking, they received an approval to build a New Wedding Hall. The board conditioned the approval requiring an asphalt sidewalk, and that some of the driveways will be only right in, right out. Many parents and friends showed up in support of the application.
2) Vermont Equities LLC received Major Site Plan approval to build 12 duplex units off Locust & Vermont. These lots are adjacent to the 29 duplex units (Belz) that Locust Holdings LLC received site plan approval for in September 2018. As these were 2 separate applications, there was no requirement for the applicants to provide 5% open space (i.e. build a shul and playground) as is required in all developments with over 29 units.
3) Four duplex units were approved on James St, a few doors down from Rt 9.
