Warming Centers Open Up Around Lakewood, As Temps Plummet

With frigid temperatures moving across New Jersey for the next several days, the Ocean County Office of Emergency Management has issued a Code Blue Alert.

Code Blue opens warming centers for the homeless to take shelter from dangerous conditions. Temperatures are predicted to drop into the low teens with wind chills well below zero, according to the National Weather Service.

The Code Blue will be in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday (1/29) through 8 a.m. Sunday (2/3).

Here are the warming centers in the Greater Lakewood area:

In the heart of Lakewood: Lakewood Community Center, 20 4th Street. (between Monmouth and Park, next door to the basketball court.)

Riverwood Park Recreation Center, located on Riverwood Drive (off Whitesville Road), Toms River.
